Why the owned pair comes first
The most economical suitable shoe is often already by the door. This tool adds a small owned-pair preference after checking terrain and intended use; it does not force an unsuitable shoe to the top.
For wet ground, distinguish a waterproof upper from outsole grip. A membrane can reduce water entry through the upper but cannot make smooth road rubber suitable for mud or stop water entering over the collar.
